Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct applies at all times when the board, members, and visitors are on the premises of the Gympie Women’s Shed, as well as when representing the Gympie Women’s Shed in the community. By becoming a member of the Gympie Women’s Shed, you are deemed to accept and abide by this Code of Conduct.

1. Respect for Others:
   • Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and kindness.
   • Respect the rights, opinions, and boundaries of others.
   • Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals and organizational information obtained through Gympie Women’s Shed activities.
2. Non-Aggressive Behaviour:
   • Conduct yourself in a non-aggressive, non-derogatory, and non-judgmental manner.
   • Refrain from engaging in any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or victimization.
   • Take responsibility for your behaviour and actions.
3. Safety and Care:
   • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all members to participate, learn, and share.
   • Handle Gympie Women’s Shed property with care and diligence.
   • Seek proper instruction before using equipment, tools, machinery, or any item requiring direction. Prioritize safety at all times.
   • Leave your pets at home, with the exception of Certified Assistance Dogs. We recognize the importance of assistance dogs and welcome their presence to support members with disabilities.
4. Participation and Support:
   • Attend activities, workshops, classes, and events with a positive attitude, creativity, and willingness to try new things.
   • Support fellow members and contribute to a supportive atmosphere within the Gympie Women’s Shed community.
5. Representation:
   • Refrain from representing the Gympie Women’s Shed unless properly authorized to do so by the Board.
6. Apolitical and Secular Nature:
   • The Gympie Women’s Shed is apolitical and secular.
   • Accept support from any denomination or political party interested in the development of the group within the community.
   • Decline support from any political party or denomination seeking to create a platform of a political, religious, or ideological nature.

By adhering to this Code of Conduct, we uphold the values of respect, inclusivity, safety, and support within the Gympie Women’s Shed community.
